The Southern States Mission (1867-1971) provided religious instruction for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Mississippi, Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee, and parts of Ohio.

Edward F. Stevens missionary journal and family newsletter
This collection contains a journal written by Edward F. Stevens during his LDS mission to the Southern States, 1896-1898, and a photocopy of the journal. It also contains a family newsletter of the Stevens family, from 1978.
Tuttle family papers
Contains a correspondence book belonging to Newton Tuttle. Includes courtship letters between Henry Bartholomew and Clara Tuttle. Also contains the missionary diaries of Henry Bartholomew to the Southern States and British missions. Includes financial documents, journals, address books, calling cards, and newspaper clippings belonging to the Tuttle family. Includes Clara Tuttle's patriarchal blessing. Also includes Garretty's Guide to Salt Lake City (circa 1890).
Ether Wolfley mission diary
Contains correspondence, photographs, and a journal of Ether Wolfley. These items are all from the time that Ether spent as an LDS missionary in the Southern States mission. The photographs show Ether and a few of his friends from the mission. There are letters and papers pertaining to his assignments as a missionary. The journal spans the years he served.
John Wood family papers
The John Wood family papers include journals from John Wood's mission to the Southern States, as well as personal histories, photos, and other family materials, circa 1882-1940.
