The Southern States Mission (1867-1971) provided religious instruction for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Mississippi, Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee, and parts of Ohio.

Contains receipts, diaries, poetry, account and memo books, certificates and other personal documents, autograph books, invitations, bank notes and warranty deeds, speeches, periodicals, letters, IOUs, and newspaper clippings. Materials are dated approximately 1815 to 1961.
Nathaniel Henry Felt Jr. missionary journal
Contains Nathaniel Felt's missionary journal from his Mormon mission to the Southern States, and a typescript of the journal. Entries date from between 1901 and 1903.
J. Warren Johnson papers
The collection contains the journals of J. Warren Johnson before and after his mission to the Southern States during the years 1895-1899. It also contains the journals while he was serving as a Mutual Improvement Missionary in Wasatch County, Utah. The Journals are organized chronologically. The collection contains material on the Southern States Mission during the years 1895-1899 and of the Mutual Improvement Program along the Wasatch front from 1901-1902.

Contains a correspondence book belonging to Newton Tuttle. Includes courtship letters between Henry Bartholomew and Clara Tuttle. Also contains the missionary diaries of Henry Bartholomew to the Southern States and British missions. Includes financial documents, journals, address books, calling cards, and newspaper clippings belonging to the Tuttle family. Includes Clara Tuttle's patriarchal blessing. Also includes Garretty's Guide to Salt Lake City (circa 1890).
