Letter from J. L. Simpson, a gold miner in Cisco, Placer County, California, to William J. Pleasants. The letter relates Simpson's experiences mining in California. He notes that the mine he is at currently is near the almost completed transcontinental railroad, on the Southern Pacific Railroad. Dated July 6, 1866.
