Hiram Mace journal
Biography of Margaret Walker Macklin
Photocopy of a microfilm copy of a typewritten biography. Margaret Walker Macklin was born in England in 1842. She joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, migrated to Utah about 1868, married Thomas Macklin in 1875, and died 1927.
James Harvey Mangum letter
Handwritten and signed letter, dated October 8, 1876, and addressed to "Dear Father and Mother." Mangum writes about the difficulty of living in Clover Valley, Nevada, and states his desire to return to Utah. He also mentions the death of an infant.
Henry Rice Mann diary
Typed transcript of part of Henry Rice Mann's diary. Transcript begins June 22, 1849, and ends September 18, 1849. On the entry of August 10, 1849, Mann is 35 years old. The diary recounts his trip across the United States to become a gold panner in California. Mann describes the climate, surrounding nature, the wagon train, camping life, and the prospect of searching for gold in California.
