Persifor F. Smith letter
A letter was written by Persifor F. Smith on January 28, 1858. The letter is five pages long and is addressed to Virginia Congressman Charles J. Faulkner, who was a Virginia politician and President Buchanan's Minister to France. Persifor references the Utah War of 1857 and 1858 in his letter.

Handwritten affidavits sworn before Smoot as mayor of Provo, Utah. The manuscript was apparently recorded by Smoot who seems to be responsible for much of its wording. The item deals with disturbances by United States soldiers in Provo, Utah.
Brigham Smoot family papers
Collection contains journals, letters, transcripts, and other materials produced by members of the Smoot family in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The materials document the missionary service of Brigham Smoot in Samoa and Tonga, the missionary service of Gilbert Van Schoonhoven, the military service of Roland Nesbit Smoot during World War II, and various family events and issues that were occuring at the time. Dated 1866 to approximately 1949.
