The bulk of the collection dates from 1930 to 1958 and deals with the law practice and judgeship of Lyman H. Bennett. Also included are many materials that deal with Alden J. Bennett, a prominent banker and mayor of Virginia City, Montana.

Joseph Smith Black autobiography
Handwritten autobiography. Black wrote this account when he was in the Utah Penitentiary for polygamy. The autobiography starts in the year 1877 when Black was living in Deseret, Utah. He writes about his life in Deseret, his avoidance of federal officials while resisting arrest for polygamy, and his subsequent incarceration in prison.

Utah District Court bond for Brigham Young's will
This document was regarding the case of Emeline A. Young vs. George Q. Cannon, Albert Carrington, and Brigham Young Jr. (1836-1903) regarding the last will of Brigham Young (1801-1877). The document bound Brigham Young Jr. to appear in court or pay $5000 penalty. He was chared in contempt for disobeying an order to deliver property to the proper receiver. The item is dated 12 July 1879.
