Collection includes twenty-one letters written by Gerald Leander Butler to his sister Eva May Butler Israelsen, which document his experiences in the United States Army and discuss family events and news. Also includes photographs of Butler with fellow soldiers and officers; images of Butler's Army garrison; various San Diego beach scenes; and an image of the San Diego YMCA building.

Typed correspondence, and one handwritten letter, and photocopies of records pertaining to the Mormon Battalion Memorial Visitors Center. The records include minutes and statistical data. The correspondence is between President and Sister Jaussi and leaders of the Mormon Church concerning details of their missions.
