Typewritten and signed letter, dated 15 Oct. 1894, and addressed to Barton O. Aylesworth. Bates writes that "the most satisfactory notices" of his writings can be found in magazines. Also included is a clipping from a magazine which describes Bates and his work. With these materials is the envelope in which the letter was sent to Aylesworth.

Alden writes he received a forwarded letter from his mother, Isabella Macdonald Alden, an American author. This missive was written by Aylesworth requesting information on Isabella Alden. Raymond Alden responds to the inquiry and informs Aylesworth where he might find published information on his mother.

Chamberlain writes his response on the letter Aylewsorth sent to him. Also included is a handwritten and signed letter by Chamberlain, dated 18 March 1902, and addressed to Aylesworth. Chamberlain apologizes for not responding to Aylesworth's enquiry sooner.
