Also includes a typescript of Steele's diary that was created in 1961 but includes entries from 1840 to 1877. Also includes some biographical notes on various members of John Steele's family. Dated 1846-1961.

Notebook used by Steele to document land surveys he was involved in for various purposes, including mining, farming, and town plots in Southern Utah. Includes the initial town plots of Springdale, Shonesburg, and Rockville. An 1874 Hanauer, Kohn and Company clothing price list catalog was used for the notebook. Dated 1874-1884.
