He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and migrated to Utah by handcart. He later settled in American Fork, Utah. Handwritten diary kept during his service as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Norway. Tells of his everyday life, missionary work, and transfers. Back of the diary includes a hand copy of a letter written by Leroy's father, N. S. Larsen, detailing his migration from Denmark to Salt Lake City, Utah, with the latter's brother, Hans.

She joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1853 and married Hans Peter Olsen in 1854. She migrated to the United States in the same year and arrived in Salt Lake City, Utah, in October 1854. Catherine later moved to American Fork, Utah, and later to Carson Valley, Nevada.
