Scope and Contents

Contains an interview of Thelma Egertsen Weight by Virginia Poulsen on June 29, 1983. Includes two cassette tapes, handwritten notes, a 40-page typescript, and a 24-page draft of typescript. Thelma talks about her grandparents emigration from Denmark, her father's profession, her education, seeing Rachmaninoff play in the tabernacle, George H. Brimhall's lectures, faculty of Brigham Young University, her teaching at Provo High School, her courtship with her husband, adopting a boy, her Church callings, working as a bookkeeper with her husband, her husband's death in 1970, her service in the Council of Aging and her travels. The last few pages of the interview are available only on the draft, not on the final typescript.

Biographical History

Thelma Egertsen Weight was born in Provo, Utah on October 5, 1898. She married a doctor named Jesse Weight and worked for 13 years as his bookkeeper. She adopted a boy and a girl. She passed away in February 1992 in Utah.
