Robert H. Campbell sketchbook

Scope and Contents

Sketchbook with sketches and poems produced when Campbell was on vacation at Sebago Lake, Maine, in 1881. They were done in pencil and ink. The sketches are of scenes and persons Campbell saw or met. The poems largely reflect on life and the nature of Campbell's surroundings. A photocopy of the book is also available.

David Candland diary and pamphlets

Scope and Contents Collection includes Candland's personal diary, covering 1841 to 1861, and with brief entries on his birthday in both 1900 and 1901. Candland documents his missionary service in the British Isles in the 1840s, and in the Eastern States and Canada in the early 1850s. He also describes some of his experiences during the Utah War of 1857 and 1858. A typescript of the diary is also included. Also includes photocopies of pamphlets in defense of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints...

Abraham H. Cannon letter

Angus M. Cannon diaries and letters

Collection includes three handwritten diaries dated 1885 to 1886 two letters from 1891. In his diaries, Cannon writes about his imprisonment at the Utah State Penitentiary for polygamy and his subseqent experiences as a stake president for the Mormon Church in Salt Lake City, Utah. His letters are addressed to his sons George and John, and to Levi Colvin of Payson, Utah. Photocopies and typescripts of the diaries are also included.

Angus M. Cannon letters

George Q. Cannon letter

Handwritten and signed letter. The item is an appeal to the "Legislative Assembly" to protect the fisheries of Utah and to preserve the fish in Utah Lake. Also included is a letter by H.C. Yarrow which Cannon refers to as a support for his position. The Yarrow item is a report of fish and fisheries in Utah during a federally funded scientific expedition.
