This series contains correspondence between Allis Brown Stuart and R. S. Ellison, concerning the Granville Stuart papers collection, all dated in 1928. She was still living in Montana. Also included in the series is the copy of a lecture given by Mrs. Granville Stuart about the Stuart's trip to South America, and a list of books sent to Kessler.

Contains diaries written by Granville Stuart in 1887 and 1893, while living in Montana. Stuart recorded information about his daily life in these diaries, marked significant dates and events, and wrote down verses or passages from literature. He also recorded some expenses in the back of the diaries.

Scope and Contents This series contains photographs that were collected by or given to Granville Stuart for his research on Montana history, circa 1788-1910. Most of the photographs are of landscapes in Yellowstone and Montana, along with portraits of Native Americans and others, including Ulysses S. Grant. Scope and Contents This series is comprised of sketches and watercolors done by Granville Stuart while he was the State Land Agent, circa 1861-1898. A few of the watercolors were done by others, and then given to Stuart. Most of the sketches are of scenic locations in Montana, such as Missoula Mills, Deer Lodge City, and Mammoth Hot Springs. This series contains papers generated by and for James Stuart, circa 1860-1909, while he was living in Montana. There are letters, both incoming and outgoing, receipts, documents, agreements, account books, and other miscellaneous material. Many pertain to his personal life, trips, and also his time as a miner.

Also included in the collection are the papers of some of Stuart's relatives, including his brothers, James and Thomas, and his second wife, Allis Isabella Brown Stuart.

This series contains one letter from Sam Stuart to Thomas Stuart, who are both brothers of Granville Stuart. Sam wrote this letter in 1865, and described his military situation in Indiana, along with his future plans.

Scope and Contents Handwritten journal of Cauthorn's overland journey by wagon train from St. Joseph, Missouri to Virginia City, Montana and Oregon in 1865. Detailed diary entries describe much of the daily routine, weather, and labor involved in the journey. This series is comprised of Granville Stuart's biography (1921) and his journals and reminiscences from his life in Montana, entitled Forty Years on the Frontier as seen in the Journals and Reminiscences of Granville Stuart: Gold-Miner, Trader, Merchant, Rancher, and Politician, published in 1925. Also included is one publication owned by Stuart, The Overland Stage to California, published in 1901.
