Andrew Amundsen journal
H. Reese Anderson diary
Account of his family affairs and daily life in Bountiful, Utah. Also records visits with friends and short trips with his wife, Ruth, to various places, including Moab, Capitol Reef National Park, and Lake Powell, Utah; and Jackson Hole, Teton National Park, and Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. Writes briefly of attending meetings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Last entry, written by an unidentified person, reports Anderson's death.
John A. Blythe journal
Photocopy of typescript. Describes his trip from Salt Lake City to the site of Joseph City and daily life in the United Order in that town. The diary also discusses the author's departure on a supply trip to Salt Lake City and concludes with his arrival in St. George, Utah en route.
A one-page autobiographical sketch entitled "History of John A. Blythe, From his birth to Feb. 3rd, 1876" is also included.
C. W. Carter papers
Collection consists of a bound volume of handwritten notes. Carter describes various areas of Utah and presents short biographies of Mormon leaders. He also includes short notes on his photography business.
Hollis Wave Cowgill diary
Elizabeth Wood Kane writings from Utah trip, 1860-1877
Contains letters, notes, clippings, and other materials relating to Kane's visit to Utah in 1872. Includes information on their travels, conditions in Utah, and the publication of her account in the book Twelve Mormon Homes. Materials date from between 1860 and 1877.
Andrew Smith Gibbons diary
Photocopy of a typescript. Gap from 1858 to 1877. Author describes his travels through Arizona and Utah as well as his labors among the Indians.
Minnie P. Grow letter
Photocopy of a letter from Minnie to mother Grow, and another relative named Nell. Minnie writes about a trip she made from Sacramento, California to Salt Lake City, Utah. She writes that she went by railroad and describes the places in Salt Lake City that she saw. She mentions meeting the family of Brigham Young while in Utah. Included is a typed transcription of the letter. Dated June 20, 1871.
Martha Laurence letter
Handwritten letter in pencil. The item was addressed to Martha's uncle, Harison Laurence, of Selma, Illinois, and was postmarked March 28 of an unspecified year. Martha writes about her trip by train to Utah. She gives her impression of seeing Mormon polygamists in a town six miles north of Salt Lake City, Utah.

The diaries contain notes and comments on business, descriptions of many journeys around the West and commentaries on the religious and social life of the period.
