Hollis Wave Cowgill diary
Scope and Contents
Contains the travel journal of Hollis "Sam" Wave Cowgill kept from June 8 to August 24, 1924. Hollis records names of travelling companions, weather updates, miles travelled each day, and the cities and towns passed through. During the trip, his party went through Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, Nebraska, Iowa, and Indiana. Included are accounts of a trip to Yellowstone National Park, Grand Teton National Park, and other various historical sites including Fort Bridger, Sherman's Hill, and a Union Pacific Railroad monument. There were also stops in Salt Lake and Ogden, Utah, and a trip up to Idaho Falls.

Biographical / Historical
Hollis Wave "Sam" Cowgill was born December 14, 1900, in Seneca, Michigan, to Asa Lincoln Cowgill and Alta Estelle Kigar. He married Laurette Mary Knepper in Lima, Ohio in 1926, and they had three children. He passed away November 30, 1992, in Sandusky, Ohio.
