This was a bill sponsored by Poland that removed power in the Utah justice system from Mormons and gave it to federal courts and officials, intended to allow for successful prosecutions of Mormon polygamists. Two anonymous, photocopied articles relating to Mormon polygamy. One is typewritten and outlines the author's belief that the Mormon Church was in error when it discontinued plural marriage. Five leaves of the document (pages 8-15) are missing. The other item is a holograph manuscript which tells about the issuing of the "Manifesto" in 1890 which formally ended polygamy among the Mormons.

Photocopy of a handwritten letter dated 16 Jan. 1854 and addressed to Lucy Mack Smith (1775-1856), mother of the Joseph Smith (1805-1844) who was the first president of the Mormon Church. Pratt writes from Washington, DC and informs Smith that he has purchased some manuscripts and refers to his attempts to get a book published relating to the Mormons.

The Orson Pratt, Jr. excommunication minutes describe the court proceedings in the trial of Orson Pratt, Jr. His trial, held on September 18, 1864, was a public meeting held in the bowery in St. George, Utah, to determine whether Pratt should retain his membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a result of the trial, Pratt was excommunicated. The single leaf of paper holds roughly ninety-nine lines of handwritten material from the trial.
