John Taylor revelations
Photocopy of typescripts of revelations allegedly given by John Taylor. The originals were reportedly "presented to Annie Taylor Hyde by her friend Emmar S. Woodruff 1907." The photocopies were made in 1967. Taylor gives revelations on appointments in the Mormon Church, on church government, and on the end of the world.
Mary F. Templeton letter to Brigham Young
Handwritten and signed letters, dated 12 Jan. and April 1876, and addressed to Brigham Young, the second president of the Mormon Church. Templeton writes about Young's finances.
Rex N. Terry Argentine Mission correspondence
Correspondence betweeen Rex N. Terry and LDS general authorities, including Franklin D. Richards, Spencer W. Kimball, Gordon B. Hinkley, Howard W. Hunter and others. Letters contain subjects such as Church administration, requests to teach African Americans, special funding requests, Church membership statistics, local government issues, travel arrangements, council and special requests. Collection also contains some rough drafts not sent by President Terry. Materials dated 1966-1969.
Testimony of eight witnesses
Photograph of a handwritten statement which is published at the beginning of the Book of Mormon. The item was signed by the "Eight Witnesses" who confirmed that they saw the golden plates from which the Book of Mormon was taken. The manuscript states that Joseph Smith was the "author" of the book. This word appeared in the first edition of the Book of Mormon. In later editions, the term was changed to "translator."
Testimony of Martin Harris
Typewritten statements and sworn affidavits concerning some of the statements Martin Harris made as to the authenticity of the Book of Mormon. The statements were made to different persons in or near Clarkston, Utah, circa 1875 and recorded much later.
Testimony regarding Emma Smith Bidamon, Nauvoo, Illinois
Jemison was born in Nauvoo in 1854 and lived there all her life. She and her sister had worked for Emma Smith in the Mansion House in Nauvoo. At the time of the interview Jemison and her husband lived in a house formerly owned by Lorenzo Snow, a leader in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon). Also included is a two-page handwritten quote from "The Book of the Law" by James J. Strang.
George Washington Thatcher letter
Handwritten and signed letter, dated 3 Nov. 1885, and addressed to John Taylor, president of the Mormon Church. Thatcher requests funds for the completion of the Logan Tabernacle.
