Scope and Contents Transcript of an interview conducted by Anita Louise Hummel on November 19, 1982 for the Ray Hillam war project. Cambell volunteered to be a military chaplain for the United States. He became a chaplain in 1944. He said he was under artillery fire and in dangerous positions in France. Cannady was interviewed by Travis Jordan in 1937 as part of the Federal Writer's Project for the Works Progress Administration. The item includes handwritten corrections. Cannady tells about how her master, despite his wife's pleading, shot and killed a slave for making a negative comment about the Confederate Army. The materials relate to a large range of topics in the early history of the Mormon Church; Joseph Smith, second president of the Mormon Church; and his family.
