However, while staying with Gohier in Belgium he is forcibly removed over a disagreement. Lalande claims Gohier to be both a hypocrite and scoundrel. Lalande also mentions a new muse in Mme. Foliveau.

Lalande also remarks on the rising of the Jacobins again in Paris and the rise of tarrifs as a result of the Jacobins. Lalande is informed by the embassador of Sweden, that the peace between Spain was made with a treaty in Holland. Lalande also discusses the embarking of Beauchamps from Constantinople.

Letter from Lalande in Richmond to Mme. Dupiery in Mareil on August 26. The letter contains mostly intimate and personal correspondence. However the wrapper includes the information of Lalande being at the Richmond Academy and working with the students there on the topics of astonomy and chemistry.
