Photocopy of a microfilmed copy of a typescript of an interview. Allen was interviewed by Mary A. Hicks on June 7, 1937 as part of a Federal Writer's Project assignment for the Works Progress Administration. The item includes handwritten corrections. Allen talks about her mixed-ethnic background, how hard the slave women had to work, the "carpet gitters" who pursued slave women, and the Ku Klux Klan.

Typescipt of an interview taken from the included audiocassettes. The interview was conducted by David Jones on 14 August 1985 for Dr. Ray Hillam's Political Science 379R course at Brigham Young University. Roley talks about joining the U.S. Navy out of high school and describes his experiences while on ships off the coasts of Iwo Jima and Okinawa.

Allen went to Vietnam in 1962 and was never wounded. He discusses the brutality of the enemy during the war. He says that the United States press did a poor job in reporting the war, failed to note how brutal the enemy was, and wrongly indicated that the war could not be won. Scope and Contents Interview conducted by Murray Duff on April 16, 1985 for the Ray Hillam war project. Elton enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps in 1940, but he was used in ground combat in the Philippines in 1941. He was captured by the Japanese in 1942. He experienced the Bataan Death march for five days and was placed in a prison camp. Many men died every day because of disease and malnutrition.
