William Henry Solomon's diary of the Arizona mission

Cynthia Jane Park Stowell autobiography

Photocopy of a typescript. The history of Stowell's family is presented by another person. Stowell tells her own story for the years from 1857 to 1892. Cynthia lived in Ogden, Utah; describes activities during the Utah War of 1857 to 1858; writes of her life as a polygamous wife; and relates her move to Juarez, Mexico, in 1892. Also included is a patriarchal blessing.

Scope and Contents Handwritten autobiography which has been encapsulated and bound. The item starts with Thurber's biographies of her father, James Keeler, and her mother, Eliza Shelton Keeler. James Keeler's account was copied from his autobiography and diary. Laura lived in Santaquin, Goshen, and Richfield, Utah, and in Grass Valley, Nevada. David Thygerson autobiography

Scope and Contents Typewritten copy of an autobiography with handwritten notes. Thygerson's account was probably written around 1938. He was born in Ephraim, Utah and went with his family to Colonia Dublan, Mexico to avoid prosecution for polygamy. He lived there until 1912 when he left because of the revolution in Mexico. The items verify that John Urie was married to a Sarah Ann Farell Urie who was free to marry him when her first husband was believed to be dead. They were married until her death in 1891. John Urie letters

Scope and Contents

Handwritten and signed letters written to Urie's wife, Priscilla, and to his mother. Two of the items were written while Urie was on a mission for the Mormon Church in Glasgow, Scotland. The remaining items were written in Cedar City, Utah. Urie writes about personal and family matters and also about his activities and community affairs.

John Van Cott papers

Scope and Contents

Correspondence, diaries, and a family history. The correspondence is between Van Cott and family members. Also included are handwritten and signed letters from Brigham Young, second president of the Mormon Church, to Van Cott. The diaries cover the time when Van Cott served as a missionary for the Mormon Church from 1852 to 1856 and from 1859 to 1862. He was in Iowa City, Iowa, when the first handcart companies left for Utah.
