Arza Adams autobiographies and diaries

Scope and Contents

Photocopies of microfilm copies of handwritten diaries. Adams joined the Mormon Church in 1836 and served as missionary for that faith in Canada. He moved to Nauvoo, Illinois, and worked on the Nauvoo Temple. He came to Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1849.

Jacob G. Bigler autobiography

Scope and Contents

Photocopy of a typescript of an autobiography. Bigler writes about his relationship with the first president of the Mormon Church, Joseph Smith (1805-1844), his life in Nauvoo, Illinois, his migration to Utah, and his life in Nephi, Utah. Bigler served on a mission for the Mormon Church in Ireland and was active in Mormon Church activities in Nephi.

Handwritten diary in pencil. Clayton kept this diary from 1 Jan. 1840 to 13 Feb. 1842. Clayton writes about his missionary activities for the Mormon Church in England and his return to the United States. He also writes about his daily activities in Nauvoo, Illinois. Clayton's diary was published by James B. Allen and Thomas G. Alexander under the title: "Manchester Mormons: the Journal of William Clayton."

Caroline Barnes Crosby autobiography and diary

Scope and Contents These materials were photocopied from microfilm copies of handwritten items. Caroline Crosby wrote about her early life in Massachusetts and Canada. She married Jonathan Crosby in 1834. She was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1835. She lived in Kirtland, Ohio, and later moved to Indiana. Jonathan Crosby autobiography and diary

Scope and Contents

Photocopies of a handwritten autobiography and diary. Also included is a typescript of these items. Crosby joined the Mormon Church and followed that faith to Kirtland, Ohio and later to Nauvoo, Illinois. Crosby migrated to Utah in 1848. He served on missions for the Mormon Church in Canada, 1842-3, and in the South Pacific, 1850-2, where he spent most of his time in Tahiti. The diary covers the years 1850 to 1852.

Photocopies of excerpts from handwritten diaries. The items cover the years 1846-1847, 1857-1859, 1868, 1869, 1873, and 1875-1876. Richards lived in Nauvoo, Illinois, presided over the European Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, prepared Utah Militia units for an expedition into Sanpete County, and served on another mission to the Eastern United States.
