W. H. Hooper letter
Handwritten and signed letter written March 21, 1861 at the Kirkwood Hotel in Washington, D.C. and addressed to Col. Thomas W. Ellerbeck in Salt Lake City, Utah. Hooper writes about the possibility of sending arms to Utah and of arming immigrants coming to Utah.
Daniel MacKintosh letter
Handwritted and signed letter dated 5 April 1854. The item was addressed to "the acting secretary of the P.E. Company." MacKintosh presents summaries of financial transactions conducted by the company. The company was designed to provide financial support for Mormons emigrating to Utah.

Handwritten letter to Nelson Pratt concerning the immigration of the Mormon pioneers to Ohio and Utah and the welfare of the Parley and Orson Pratt families. Also includes a handwritten postcard from Milando Pratt to Nelson Pratt concerning the death of Orson Pratt.

Elijah Spray diary
Handwritten diary. There are not entries for 1874. Spray describes his life in Morley, Yorkshire, England. He migrated to Utah in 1878. Also included are letters, genealogies, and notes.
Sidney Tanner letter
Photocopy of a handwritten and signed letter dated April 13, 1847. Also included is a typescript of the item. Tanner writes to his "Father and Mother, Brothers & Sisters" to tell them about the moves he has been forced to make because of the persucutions of the Mormons and informs them about the deaths of family members.
John Van Cott papers
Correspondence, diaries, and a family history. The correspondence is between Van Cott and family members. Also included are handwritten and signed letters from Brigham Young, second president of the Mormon Church, to Van Cott. The diaries cover the time when Van Cott served as a missionary for the Mormon Church from 1852 to 1856 and from 1859 to 1862. He was in Iowa City, Iowa, when the first handcart companies left for Utah.
Brigham Young letter
Photocopy of a handwritten letter. The item is dated March 4, 1858 and is addressed to Lewis Brunson (1831-1888), bishop for the Mormon Church in Fillmore, Utah. The letter is an authorization by Young for Brunson to give "Brother Robb" livestock in repayment of a loan he had given to the Mormon Church in Liverpool, England for the purpose of emigration.
