Handwritten diary describing a trip from Liverpool, England through various parts of the United States from 16 Aug. to 27 Oct. 1872. Crook visited numerous places in New York State, Canada, Illinois, and Michigan. He also visited Salt Lake City, Utah and gave a destription of that city and the Mormons living there in entries roughly 1500 words in length.

Scope and Contents Photocopy of a handwritten letter dated 14 July 1849. The item was written by a Mormon in Salt Lake City, Utah. He signed the item with an illegible signature. His first name was "Wm." and his second name started with an "S." The item is addressed to relatives in Richmond, Indiana. The writer of the letter tells about the conditions of Salt Lake City, since its founding two years previously. He tells about the weather, economic conditions, prices of goods, and other general matters...
