Black Hawk committee meeting minutes
Handwritten entries into a book of blank pages. The entries relate to the meetings of the "Black Hawk Committee" of Springville, Utah. The organization commemorated the Black Hawk War between the whites and Indians of Utah. Also included are financial records and a list of men from Springville who participated in the war.

Henry Schler Buckwalter autobiography
Photocopy of a typed autobiography of Henry Shuler Buckwalter who served in Indian wars and helped Utah immigrants.
Eliza Jane Staker Day autobiography
Typescripts of autobiographical materials. Day writes about her early life in Mt. Pleasant, about the defenses in the town during the Black Hawk War, and about her family. Also included is a biography by Day of her mother, Eliza Cusworth Burton Staker, who was a pioneer and an early settler in Mt. Pleasant.
Ray Carl Howell collection of John and Etta Sidwell papers
Contains materials relating to the Black Hawk War. Included are the writing of John and Etta Sidwell documenting the story of the pioneers and the first settlers in the Salt Lake Valley as well as his speeches, music scores, letters, journals, and three notebooks used at war veteran meetings. Materials are dated approximately 1880-1910.
Milas Edgar Johnson autobiography
Typewritten autobiography. John writes about his life in Fountain Green and Huntington, Utah, his experiences in Utah's Black Hawk War, his employment as a postmaster, and his service in the Utah state senate.
L. John Nuttall papers
William B. Pace military campaign record
Handwritten record of a campaign by the Utah County Militia against the Ute Indians from April to August 1867. The entries are often presented in the form a daily happenings. Also included are handwritten copies of military orders and correspondence between the members of the militia and local leaders.
Samuel W. Richards diaries
Photocopies of excerpts from handwritten diaries. The items cover the years 1846-1847, 1857-1859, 1868, 1869, 1873, and 1875-1876. Richards lived in Nauvoo, Illinois, presided over the European Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, prepared Utah Militia units for an expedition into Sanpete County, and served on another mission to the Eastern United States. Also included are patriarchal blessings and miscellaneous items relating to Richards and his family.
Azariah Smith diary
Photocopy of a handwritten diary. Smith writes of his early life until he started his diary in 1846. He tells about his experiences in the Mormon Battalion and the discovery of gold in California in 1848. Smith also writes about his coming to Utah and his life in Manti, Utah. He also relates incidents in the Black Hawk War when the whites fought the Ute Indians. There are many gaps.
