Autobiography, diaries, and Leithead family histories

Scope and Contents

Photocopies of printed versions of Leithead's autobiography and diaries. Also included are various histories and biographies of members of the Leithead family. James emigrated from Scotland to eastern Canada where he was introduced to the Mormon faith. He lived in Nauvoo, Illinois, and accompanied the Mormons to Utah where he settled in Farmington and later in Glendale. He also lived for several years on the Muddy River in Nevada as part of Mormon attempts to settle there.

David Moore diary, autobiography, and history

Typewritten copies of diaries, an autobiography, and a history. The diaries include an "Abridged History of the Salmon River Mission" which is Moore's journal for 1855 when he was serving in the mission. Also included are "Items of History" which tells about the early settlements in Weber County, Utah, and an autobiography to the year 1849 when Moore's diary begins.

Typewritten family history and a photocopy of a handwritten autobiography. The personal history was written by Laura Louisa Smith Rice (1868-1944). It documents the life of Laura Rice, a Mormon woman in Farmington, Utah. Helen Rice was given her mother's diary in 1985 and wrote an introduction to it which includes much information on the Rice family and which she entitled, "My Mother Raised Rice."

Niels Peter Peterson papers
