Photocopy of a microfilmed copy of a typescript of an interview. Dunn was interviewed by Mary A. Hicks in 1937 as part of the Federal Writer's Project for the Works Progress Administration. The item includes handwritten corrections. She describes the master's house and the slave cabins on the plantation. She gives both her own and her master's reaction to the Yankee invasion. She also gives a heartfelt account of her courtship and marriage to her late husband, Jim Dunn.

Calvin William Elton interviews

Scope and Contents Interview conducted by Murray Duff on April 16, 1985 for the Ray Hillam war project. Elton enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps in 1940, but he was used in ground combat in the Philippines in 1941. He was captured by the Japanese in 1942. He experienced the Bataan Death march for five days and was placed in a prison camp. Many men died every day because of disease and malnutrition. Typescript of an interview conducted by Scott M. Fellows on 14 Feb. 1985 for the War Project at Brigham Young University. Also included is the reel-to-reel sound tape from which the trancription was made. Warr talks about his three tours of duty in Vietnam starting in 1965, 1967, and 1970. He discusses how the war changed over those years. He was wounded in combat in 1967.

Ray T. Matheny interview

Scope and Contents

Transcripts of interviews and oral histories probably recorded in 1983. Matheny flew on a B-17 on combat missions over France and Germany during World War II. He was shot down over Germany in January 1944 and was a prisoner of war until the end of the conflict.

Roley talks about joining the U.S. Navy out of high school and describes his experiences while on ships off the coasts of Iwo Jima and Okinawa.

Gail E. Waller interview

Scope and Contents

Transcript of an interview conducted by Kelly J. Drake on 6 Aug. 1985 for the Ray Hillam military history project. Drake was in the United States Marine Corps starting in 1936 and later went into the United States Army in 1940. He served in North Africa for nine months and served in Sicily in 1943 with the ordinance section of the Seventh Army. He was later deployed to Germany in 1945 and met Russian troops on the Elbe River. Drake was sent home in July of 1945.
