Niels Christian Jensen autobiography and day book

Scope and Contents

Photocopies of a handwritten autobiography and a day book. Jensen writes about his life in Denmark including his participation in the war with Prussia in 1864. Jensen also relates his migration to the United States; his conversion to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; his settling in Manti and Richmond, Utah; and his later move to the Rexburg, Idaho, area.

Scope and Contents

Handwritten letters dated 1866 and addressed to Kuhn's parents and to other friends and family members. The items were written in Nebraska, Wyoming, and Utah. Kuhn tells about his experiences on the Oregon and the California trails. He writes about meeting Mormons in Salt Lake City and elsewhere in Utah and gives his impressions of them.

Rogers writes about his life as a Mormon in Ohio, Missouri, and Illinois. He also tells about his service with the Mormon Battalion, his migration to Utah from California in 1848, his missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and his involvement in polygamy.
