Scope and Contents
Handwritten and signed letter, addressed to Jemima D. Goforth, dated Aug. 5, 1829, and written in Bethany, Virginia. Campbell expresses thanks for previous letters and tells of his preaching the "pure apostolic Gospel" and visiting churches. He tells of the missionary activities of his movement and of the successes in gaining new converts.

Biographical History
Thomas Campbell was an Irish Presbyterian pastor who came to the United States in 1807. He founded the Disciples of Christ (Campbellites) with his son, Alexander Campbell (1788-1866), in 1827.
