Biographical History
William C. Allen (1843-1926) was an early member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, pioneer, and colonizer.
William C. Allen was born on February 14, 1843 in Wadesboro, Kentucky, to parents Andrew Jackson Allen and Delilah Emaline Bennett Andrews. In 1847, Allen immigrated to Utah, crossing the plains with Mormon pioneers as a child. He went on to marry Lovina Jane Smith on January 12, 1867. They were married by Wilford Woodruff in the Endowment House, Salt Lake City, Utah, and together they had 14 children. He and his family settled in Mill Creek Canyon and Draper, Utah. Allen served in the Utah Territorial Militia beginning in 1862. In 1876, Allen was called by Brigham Young to head the colonization of the Little Colorado River settlements in Arizona.
