Scope and Contents

Contains a wooden slide viewer and 224 34mm slides of church history, people, and sites collected by LeGrand Baker. There are slides of homes and historic sites as well as slides of museum exhibits, paintings, and photographs. Dated approximately 1960 to 1969.

Biographical / Historical

LeGrand Baker was born on November 2, 1937, in Boulder, Utah to Glen Baker and Crystal Myrl Brown. LeGrand grew up in Utah Valley where he attended Spanish Fork and Lincoln high schools. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1963 and went on to receive a master's degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in American History in 1972. LeGrand went on to teach history and religion classes at Brigham Young University. He published many articles and books about the Latter-day Saint prophet Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. LeGrand married Marilyn Larsen and together they had four children. He died on August 2, 2018, in Orem, Utah.
