Scope and Contents

Contains a carte-de-visite photograph album. There are also loose cartes-de-visite that were tucked in the back cover of the album. The cartes-de-visite depict family, friends, and early leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dated approximately 1850-1899.

Biographical / Historical

Mary Bybee was born on March 3, 1916, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Arnold Riley Shurtleff and Ruth Richardson. As a family they moved to California in 1918. While in Oakland, Mary met Curtis Ray Bybee. They were married on July 17, 1937, in Oakland, California. Together they had five children. They returned with their children to Provo, Utah in 1989. Mary served for twenty years in the Oakland Temple. Mary passed away on January 23, 2008, in Orem, Utah.

These items were donated to Special Collections in 1989 by Mary Bybee who acquired them from her mother's possessions after her mother's death.

Processed; Anne Ashton; September 2022. Updated finding aid for DACS compliance and accuracy. Rehoused photograph album. Loose cartes-de-visite were separated from the album and rehoused to plastic sleeves for preservation.
