Scope and Contents

Collection includes a scrapbook owned and created by Norma Hancey Skabelund that documents the family's travels on an "L.D.S. Sociables Tour," that took them through Illinois, Missouri, Ohio, New York, Washington, D.C., Colorado, and Nebraska, stopping at various historical sites of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The scrapbook includes a souvenir travel album with recorded thoughts in the album by Norma, and a tour booklet. Collection also includes a Zion's Boys & Girls Second Year Treasure Book belonging to Joyce Roth, two girls' Primary class bandlos (bands of decorated felt worn around the neck) created by Joyce Roth Skabelund, and photocopies of material on Spanish Fork residents that served in the military. Materials dated 1939-2008.

Biographical / Historical

The Skabelund family was established in 1936 when Norma Hancey (1913-1991) married John Rex Skabelund (1911-1965) in Logan, Utah. They had three children, including Paul Hancey Skabelund (1937-2021), who was born in Logan, Utah. Paul would go on to marry Joyce Roth (1938-2023), also a lifelong resident of Utah, and they had nine children.
