Biographical History

Amanda Knight (1851-1932) was a philanthropist and supporter of education in Utah. Amanda Knight was born on November 13, 1851, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She married Jesse Knight at age 17 on January 18, 1868, and raised their family in Payson, Utah, where they owned and operated a farm, and in Provo, Utah, where their children attended Brigham Young University. The Knights were philanthropists and donated significant portions of their wealth to the university. A women's dormitory on campus was named after Amanda. She died on December 15, 1932.

Biographical History

James Clove was born in Provo, Utah on September 9, 1891. He was principal of Payson High School in Payson, Utah, until becoming superintendent of the Logan School District in 1933. He served as superintendent until 1950, when he decided to not seek reappointment due to poor health. He died in 1963 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
