Contains a spiral bound autobiography of World War II veteran Joseph William Stobbe detailing his experiences in the U.S. Infantry in France during 1943. Also described are his later trips back to France retracing his wartime journey. Throughout are pictures of some of the locations being described.

Biographical History
Joseph William Stobbe was born on October 31, 1921 in Castle Dale, Utah, to Ludwig Henry Otto and Rosa Martha Augusta Naschcke Stobbe. Stobbe served an LDS mission in the New England States Mission from 1941-1943. After his LDS mission, Joseph registered for service in the US Army, where he landed with the 90th Division in Normandy on D-Day and fought as a combat infantryman and sniper. For his service, Stobbe was awarded the Purple Heart Medal with Two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Bronze Star with Valor, and the Combat Infantryman Badge. He was also awarded the Legion of Honour Medal from France in 2015.
Stobbe married Elna Marie Parkinson Haymond on June 4, 1945 in Salt Lake City, Utah and the couple had six children together. Joseph graduated from the University of Utah Medical School in 1949 and served on the staff of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the LDS Hospital for many years. He died on November 1, 2016 at his home in Salt Lake City.
