Diary of Julia Ellen Davis Dillman, beginning with a brief autobiographical sketch and followed by infrequent entries about her life in St. Charles, Idaho (near Bear Lake) and later Ashley Valley (near Vernal, Utah). Also mentions her marriage to Peter Dillman in 1882, some poetry, and a closing entry about her funeral and farewell entries from the associations she belonged to. Dated 1878 to 1906.

Biographical / Historical
Julia Ellen Davis Dillman was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Nathan Cutler Davis and Isabella Wells Davis on February 7, 1862. Julia's father worked as a mechanic repairing and making equipment for emigrants crossing the plains. As a child, the family moved to St. Charles, Idaho, near Bear Lake, and then Ashley Valley in Utah. On May 21, 1882, Julia Ellen married Simon Peter Dillman. The couple had four children: Harold Elmer, Frances Fern, Ray Eugene, and Isabel Hope. Dillman served for six years as secretary in the Stake Young Ladies Mutual Improvement Association and was a charter member of the Thalia Club. Julia Ellen resolved to do something kind for others every day and recorded it in her daily journal. Julia Ellen Davis Dillman died on October 28, 1904, in Vernal, Utah.
