Biographical History
Jan F. Dalby (born 1946) is an educator and family history collector in Utah.
Jan Fredric Dalby was born on October 29, 1946, in San Diego, California, to John Philip and Barbara Magnuson Dalby.
Dalby graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor's degree in Spanish in 1971, and from the University of Arizona with a master's degree in Teaching in 1976. He joined the U.S. Air Force and served for twenty-two years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1993. He has since worked as a Donor Recruitment Manager or Director for blood services, and a Marketing Manager for colleges. He is currently self-employed as an educator and marketing consultant, and serves as an adjunct instructor for area colleges and universities, teaching English Composition, Technical Writing, Communicaitons, Public Relations, and Leadership. His interests include photography, gardening, travel, family history, and music.
Dalby lives in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Barbara Joyce Magnuson Dalby (1925-2014) was a genealogist and family history professional.
Barbara Joyce Magnuson Dalby was born on December 23, 1925, in Mt. Vernon, Washington, to Waldo George and Anne Bernice Musser Magnuson. After a short stint in the Navy, she married John Philip Dalby on May 18, 1944, and together they had four children. She was an avid researcher, genealogist, and family history professional. She helped build the Florida State and Illinois State Genealogical Societies and was an officer in Daughters of the American Revolution and Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
Dalby died on November 1, 2014, in Sandy, Utah.
Biographical History
Phil Dalby (1919-2004) was an educator, composer, and cartoon artist.
John Philip Dalby was born on March 29, 1919, in Driggs, Idaho, to parents Cleon Ezra and Ethelwynne Griggs Dalby. He served as a Mormon missionary in the North Central States Mission from 1939 to 1941. He entered the Army soon after December 7, 1941, and graduated from the Army Music School in Virginia and was a Warrant Officer in the 707th AAF Band. He married Barbara Magnuson in 1944, in Spokane, Washington, and togher they had four children. Dalby drew the "Book of Mormon cartoon" series in the Church between 1947 and 1953. He graduated with a bachelor's degree from San Diego State University, a master's degree from the University of Utah, and a Ph.D. from the University of Oregon. He directed the band at Utah State Agricultural College (now Utah State University) in Logan, Utah, taught and served as college department head and president of two community colleges (Morton and Thornton Colleges in the Chicago area). He was director of the Dale Mabry Campus in Tampa, Florida. After he retired, Dalby and his wife, Barbara, served as missionaries at BYU-Hawaii.
Dalby died on April 30, 2004, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
