Scope and Contents
Collection contains personal papers and documents as well as collected materials regarding women's issues, much of which is in relationship to Latter-day Saint values. Major topics include the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), International Women's Year (IWY), teen pregnancy, abortion, and lesbianism. Also includes some personal family papers including correspondence, notes, and other material. Material dates from 1908 to 2013.

Biographical History
Jaynann Morgan Payne was born in 1928 in Utah, where she grew up. She graduated from Brigham Young University (BYU) with a major in English and minors in Spanish and music. She married Dean W. Payne, and is the mother of twelve children.
In 1967, Payne became Mrs. Utah after a friend entered her name in a statewide contest. She went to San Diego with her husband to participate in the pageant and was named the second runner-up to Mrs. America of 1967 to 1968.
Payne has taught in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint's church sunday school, Relief Society, and MIA since the age of sixteen, and has also served as president of a ward MIA. Since 1967, she has given many lectures to church and civic organizations, family life meetings, and youth conferences. She has been awarded a special commendation of merit by the city of Provo for her family, community and church service. She was a lecturer and special instructor for Brigham Young University and has participated in many television and radio programs for youth and parents.
She is the author of several books including The Art of Accomplishment and Beauty for Keeps, and co-authored The Joy of Being a Woman with other Latter-day Saint women.
