Walter G. Taylor photograph albums
Scope and Contents note
This collection contains printed copies of scans made of photographs taken from the 1870s to the 1950s mainly by Walter G. Taylor (though some were taken by his father George Taylor). The photos depict Provo during this time period. Large numbers of photographs are of several resorts on Utah Lake that were heavily used in the summer during this time period. Also, development along Center Street and University Avenue, workers at the Provo Woolen Mills, important events in Provo, and family photographs are well represented in the collection.

Biographical History
Walter G. Taylor was born September 25, 1873 in Provo, Utah, to George Taylor and Eliza Nicholls Taylor. He grew up in Provo and married Agnes Hamilton McKinlay on September 28, 1892. He and Agnes had five children: Walter, Clarissa, Melvin, George, and Fred. Walter died March 18, 1959 in Pleasant Grove, Utah.

Abstract
Includes six folders containing printed copies of scans made of each album page and discs containing the original scans. The discs inlcude photos selected for their significance by a Provo historian. Most of these selected photos have a corresponding caption that is included in an inventory that is also included with the discs.
Custodial History note
Prior to loaning, the albums were kept by descendents of Walter G. Taylor.

Appraisal note
This collection belongs in the Photographic Archives because it contains photographs that portray life in early Provo, they were taken by native residents of Provo, and many of the photographs are over 100 years old which makes them of particular interest.
