Oral history interviews with Grant L. and Josephine Harris Bayles on July 7 and 11, 1971. The interviews were conducted by Mary Risher and Louise Lyne for the Utah State Historical Society and California State University, Fullerton Oral History Program. The subjects are southeastern Utah Cattle Industry, the Posey War and reminiscences of Blanding, Utah. Grant discusses his childhood in Blanding, Utah, his cattle ranching career and interactions with Native Americans. Josephine talks mostly about her married life in Blanding, Utah. Bound manuscript, 54 pages of text, photocopied pictures and indexes included.

Biographical History

Grant Lyman Bayles was born February 19, 1904 in Bluff, Utah, to Hanson Bayles. He married Florence Josephine Harris April 4, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Grant died September 6, 1987 in Blanding, San Juan, Utah.

Biographical History

Josephine Harris Bayles was born to Lucy R. and Joseph B. Harris on May 9, 1908, in Bluff, San Juan, Utah. She spent most of her life in Blanding, Utah, and died there September 2, 1996.
