Scope and Contents
Contains Elgueta's 17-page manuscript and a three page typescript of a portion of Elgueta. Spanish-Mam vocabulary, compiled by Father Manuel Elgueta probably around 1900. Miscellaneous Spanish words and phrases are arranged in list format, followed by equivalents in Mam. There is also a brief Mam-Spanish word list. In addition, there are specialized Spanish-Mam vocabularies for colors, clothing, fruits, herbs, illnesses, birds of prey, types of doves, bees, wasps, flying insects and animals, and family relationships. Also included are simple verb conjugations for "amar," with Mam equivalents, and a list of common phrases and questions.
