Biographical note

From the Collection:

The Weir family included Robert Walter Weir (1803-1889), professor of drawing; his first wife Louisa Ferguson (d. 1845); his second wife Susan Martha Bayard; and their children, especially John Ferguson Weir (1841-1926), director of Fine Arts, Yale; and Julian Alden Weir (1852-1919), artist.
