Caption on item: "Strands of steel are weaved into wire rope in the Wire Rope Mill at the Pittsburg, California, Plant of Columbia Steel Company, a subsidiary of United States Steel Corporation. Homer Bennett is shown adjusting a wire rope stranding machine. Wire rope produced at the Pittsburg Plant is used by the great Western logging industry, for the famous San Francisco Cable Cars, and myriad other uses."
