General note

Caption on item: "Salmon traps are manufactured in the Wire Mill of U.S. Steel’s Columbia Steel Company Plant at Pittsburg, California. Mike Constantino is removing an empty spool which will be replaced by the full spool shown at his feet. The spools feed into the machine in the background, and the wire is woven into fish trap netting for trapping salmon. After making its annual catch on the ocean bottom, the fish trap netting is dragged out to sea and abandoned. This limits the life of such traps and thus, requires new wire fish trap netting for the seasonal demand."
