Scope and Contents

Contains all of Mack Wilberg's personal papers. The papers include documents about his undergraduate education and graduate program as The University of Southern California. There are programs and fliers for concerts in which he performed in as well as conducted, in school as well as for the United Methodist Church. Also present are papers regarding classes he taught as a professor as Brigham Young University, and in regards to his position as conductor of BYU Men's Chorus, Women's Chorus and other university choirs or performances. Included are photographs and correspondence. Mack Wilberg's papers include materials both in relation to his professional and personal life. Dated approximately 1973-2000.

Biographical History

From the Collection:

Dr. Mack Wilberg (born 1955) is a world renowned composer and director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

Wilberg was raised in Castle Dale, Utah. He learned the piano and became a gifted clarinetist. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in South Korea and was part of a missionary vocal group called New Horizons. Wilberg attend Brigham Young University and received his bachelor's degree. He received his master's and doctoral degrees from the University of Southern California. He became a professor at Brigham Young University and conducted the Concert Choir and Men's Chorus. In May 1999 Wilberg was appointed to associate director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Temple Square Chorale conductor. On March 28, 2008, he was appointed director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
