June Emma Teasdale journals, 1916-1917
Scope and Contents
Each of the five journals originally belonged to her father, George Ezra Teasdale, as evidenced by his signature inside each front cover and his sporadic notes throughout the journals. However, they were filled by June Emma Teasdale. Teasdale's journals cover March 1916-August 1917 and take place in Madera County, California. Her journal entries consist mostly of her daily chores and social activities. She mentions specific Madera County locations including Bass Lake, Cascade Canyon, Fish Canyon, Oakhurst, and Ahwanee. One of the journals is entirely dedicated to recipes; some handwritten and some clipped from newspapers.
