Written on the bottom: "The Temple was built of light gray limestone. It was 128 ft. long and 88 ft. broad, 60 ft. high and to the top of the tower 200 ft. it had 30 hewn pilasters, which cost $3,000 each. The whole cost of the building was over $1,000,000. The baptismal fount, supported of 12 gilded, carved oxen, was in the basement story. Corner stone laid April 6, 1841." Written on the verso: "Sept. 22, 1903 at Nauvoo. A. M. Smith."
