Scope and Contents

Embroidered Qing Dynasty portion of a panel, late 19th to early 20th century China. The piece features birds in Forbidden Stitch. Birds are flanked by floral motifs, a butterfly, sacred fungus, and a basket of fruit, all in satin stitch against a dark blue ground.
