Abraham H. Cannon diary volume 12, 1889-1890
Scope and Contents
Abraham continues to write about the affairs of the Church and the duties of his apostolic calling, as well as his work and family life. He also discusses local and federal politics. In Utah, the Liberal Party wins a majority over the People's Party, resulting in further disenfranchisement of the Saints who practice polygamy. Abraham travels around Utah and to San Francisco and New York, where he receives medical attention for his injured leg. A Supreme Court decision is made in which a large amount of Church property is taken from the Saints. The First Presidency declares that no more plural marriages should be performed, even in an outside country. Dated 1889 to 1890.
