Letter from [Hooper?], Washington, to Thomas L. Kane, the President is hostile, mentions bill on appeals, "the institution must be conceded." Encloses two newspaper clippings (photocopies): 1 from the Tribune on the upcoming appointment of ex-senator Williams of Oregon as Attorney-General, the other from the Herald, "Utah, The President's Message Among the Gentiles-- The Whereabouts of Brigham--Another Polygamous Marriage--A Mormon Delegation Found for Washington." Dated December 6, 1871.
